With aging and loss of skin elasticity, repeated muscle contraction and gravity the upper face develops horizontal wrinkles in the forehead, vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows and descended eyebrows. These changes may give you a more tired and sometimes angry appearance. The brows are anatomically linked to the eyelids and we think they both have to be taken into consideration when addressing the upper face.
Brow Lift Procedure
Brow lift or forehead lift is a procedure that rejuvenated the upper third of your face. This procedure corrects drooping eyebrows and smoothens the forehead wrinkles. It can be combined with upper or lower blepharoplasty to improve results.
Brow lift is can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation in day surgery. Depending on the case, Dr. Elia Sentine and Dr. Marco Galati, may use one of the following techniques: the bicoronal incision, incisions on the temporal area, the Castañares procedure or the endoscopic approach.
Recovery
You may go home the same day. The dressing may be removed in a couple of days after the procedure. You may feel slight discomfort that can be easily managed with oral medication. Stiches will be removed 7 to 10 days after surgery. Most swelling and bruising will go away after 2-3 weeks and it can be easily covered by makeup.
Alternatives to Brow Lift
There are alternative treatments that can help rejuvenate your upper face like botulinum toxin and fillers. However, non-surgical procedures do not provide the same result as an operation. If you are considering you want to improve your upper face our doctors can help you decide which procedure is best for you.
