Botox, also known as botulinum toxin, is a protein used for various medical treatments. It’s widely applied in ophthalmology and neurology to address conditions like strabismus, muscle spasms, chronic migraines, and excessive sweating.
The Ministry of Health now approves botulinum for aesthetic use too. In Aesthetic Medicine, botulinum toxin injections ease expression lines, those wrinkles from daily muscle contractions reflecting emotions.
What is Botulinum ?
Botulinum toxin acts directly on the muscles responsible for wrinkles, allowing them to be temporarily stretched, giving the face a relaxed and relaxed appearance without resorting to surgery.
Is effective in correcting:
- Vertical wrinkles that form between the eyebrows (glabellar lines);
- Lateral canthal wrinkles (periocular wrinkles, also called “crow’s feet”) that form in the eye contour area;
- Forehead wrinkles, observed at the maximum elevation of the eyebrows.
This treatment, on the other hand, is not effective on wrinkles caused by the effect of gravity (such as sagging eyelids), nor on wrinkles caused by excessive exposure to the sun or tanning lamps.
